Construction Experience

My construction experience began in 1979 as I entered the work force for the first time. I began as an apprentice carpenter working for a general contractor building new homes and remodeling in North Bend and the Snoqualmie Valley. For the next 10 years I worked my way up through the company to foreman. I received hands on experience building a new home through all its different systems from the foundation through to ready for occupancy.

During these 10 years I was also involved in many different remodel projects. From raising houses and pouring new foundations under them, to re-roofs, rot repairs, small bathroom remodels, and complete whole house makeovers.

I began a new career in the commercial construction industry in 1989, where I began framing with steel studs, installing ACT ceiling systems, and building soundproof wall systems. I spent the next 18 years continuing to do residential construction in my free time including a complete remodel of my own home and also building a new home for my family.

In 1994 I moved from the field into the office to become the estimator. Eventually I began project managing the commercial jobs as well. The company was closed in 2007 and I took time off to spend with my family. Then we began our own construction company doing small remodels and repairs. In 2012 I wanted to add home inspection as one of the services I could provide as a general contractor.  As much as I have loved building and remodeling, I love the challenge of home inspecting even more.

As I began inspecting homes I came to realize the importance of the home inspection training together with my construction experience. I inspected a home that I had done several small projects on and that I had always considered to be in sound condition. It was so apparent to me as I inspected this home that even though I had done work all around the house, if you have no home inspection training to teach you what to look for, you will miss a lot of problems. I discovered multiple minor problems and potential hazards whose signs were in plain sight, but simply were not seen because no one was looking for them. This discovery has given me a passion for finding those clues to unseen deficiencies in every home inspection that I do.

My promise to you is to take my years of construction knowledge and experience, combined with my home inspection training and give you the most thorough home inspection I can.
